Should have pretended like you had no idea how much she gave you or that you didn't remember her and walked away keeping the money.
Damn she didnt even ask for change back. Just took all your hard earned cash. Hopefully the rest of your shift went well
more like **** her life, not yours
Well what can you do...hope the rest goes well
I once handed a $20 as a tip for a free hot chocolate at a casino once, thinking it was the $1 that I had in my other hand. It was my mistake and I just sucked it up, figuring it would come back around to me somehow and I probably made the cocktail waitress pretty happy. Also, my hot chocolate never sat empty the rest of the night.
I did something like that once. I wasn't paying attention and left a $10 tip (and my meal cost $7, whoops)....but by the time I figured it out, the waiter already had it. I figured it was my mistake anyway, and what's the harm in making someone's night?
That's why I'm very glad that the bills in my country have different colours. Harder to make a mistake.
Well done on not being an asshole. We need more people like you
Its even better in my country. we also have different sizes besides colors :))
I agree you should tip generously, however, A tip is earned not just expected.
OP already earned the tip when she performed the service
very true
Don't spend it all in one place, OP :)
Wow, what a dick
When you go out to eat, you pay for more than just the food. You pay for the experience. If you can't afford to tip appropriately, you can't afford to eat out. It's that simple. Servers should keep in mind that if you don't end up making the federal or state minimum wage from your tipped wage plus your tips, the employer is legally obligated to make up the difference.
Or, chew you out and make you take a class on "how to be a better server" in some cases.

Here's a dollar. Go buy yourself something fancy.
I definitely wouldn't feel bad about chewing her out, although you probably need the job. Sorry OP. I know from experience that the food service industry sucks.
