Today, after months of helping my mother with bills because she claimed she had no money, I found out she makes way more than what I do. She just wanted my money for alcohol and drugs. FML

That is so sad and messed up. Rule of thumb I use when family asks for money is I ask what is it for. If bills I ask for it and pay it myself. Groceries I'll go to the store let them pick out what they need and pay for it. I never give them cash.

Wow. that's awful. I hope you cut her off. If you can get the money back, great. I'm tempted to tell you to take money from her purse or items from the house, but that would probably be illegal.

Been there OP both my parents were addicted to antidepressants. They were taking not only my brothers and my rent but my retired grandmother who was living off of social security. I moved out took my brother with me.
