Today, at my minimum wage job, we received a half-way decomposed dog found in a lake. It was my job to tear open the bag and try to identify the breed and color. It would've been easier if the body wasn't crawling with maggots. FML
I agree, your life sucks 23 530

The job could be cleaning parks/recreational areas, not sure why you need to identify the dog though

Just wanted to comment towards some of the posts here. Lots of jobs don't pay much above minimum wage yet have some bizarre duties. I'm too ashamed to say what I make part time as a fireman and we deal with things of this nature. However, I absolutely love my job.

Kudos to you!! I can't even begin to thank you enough for your service. You guys, and EMTs are sorely underpaid for what you do. It takes a person with a huge heart, and thick skin to do the things you do. Not many could handle it, even if it was well compensated! I would be quite willing to pay my fair share if it went to properly compensating emergency responders.

Firemen, Emt's, & policemen are so underpaid it's ridiculous. These are the people that are literally saving lives and most often at the risk of their own lives; so why are they not the highest paid profession? Why do athletes, who play games for a living, get paid ridiculously more than these guys? In my opinion these guys should be getting the highest paid salaries of any other profession out there. We literally couldn't live without them!

Thanks guys, I was honestly just trying to point out that OP wasn't the only one dealing with that sort of thing lol. After 20 years I haven't seen what the OP had to deal with but I've still got many more years to go... Ha

That's disgusting, i dont know how anyone could handle doing that.

You chose this job... Im pretty sure there are other, less disgusting jobs in your area.

I used to work at Walmart. One of my coworkers had to dispose of a dead bunny that was pretty messed up in the parking lot once. I'm sure OP was aware of some of the horrible things that could happen, but this was probably unexpected, like the dead rabbit. In summary: Sometimes there will be disgusting/unexpected things to do at a job, regardless of position and the job itself.

This isn't the 80s. You don't choose so much as you take what you can get. You keep looking, but you take what you can get.

I couldn't have dealt with that. Good luck with your job, OP :)

All that for minimum wage?? Time to find a new job.

who ever said this person deserved it just wants to watch the world burn.

I guess this sounds insensitive, but who cares? Bury the poor thing. It's unlikely you'd be able to bring closure to some family whose pet ran off.

First of all, empathy towards animals is a natural human function. So, lots of people would care because they're human beings. The kinds of people who don't are either sociopathic or have been taught to be sociopathic towards animals. Second of all, even disregarding that, looking at a rotting maggoty corpse and smelling that scent has been known to make people very very very ill. It is an unpleasant experience even if you are sociopathic. In fact it's an unpleasant experience for most animals, too, excepting vultures who actually like rotting corpses and do everyone a favor by disposing of them.

Well it doesnt look like minimum paid job at all if it u should really quet ,
