KereKris tells us more.
OP here. I guess this needs a follow-up. I was in a sailing boat with some friends and although there were big waves, the wind wasn't too strong so we thought it would be safe sailing. We were wrong about that. An exceptionally big wave came up from behind. The boat started surfing uncontrollably down from it and eventually flipped. I was caught by a rope and dragged under water. Fortunately I had a safety knife strapped to my leg so I could cut myself free but it took some time and I lost consciousness before I could make it up. My friends dragged up on the upturned hull of our boat because they were unable to flip it back. The tide was rising so the current pushed us close to the shore. In the surf we were trown off again and because of the waves it was too dangerous to approach the boat again so my friends swam to the shore, dragging me behind them. I regained consciousness for a while but passed out again as soon as we made it to the beach. Hope this answers all your questions.

I'd say it depends on why you were in the sea in the first place.
I don't think it matters, if you are having to be revived, regardless of the reason they should visit I think (not knowing circumstances)
I don't understand cruel parents like this. I have a friend whose parents never came to her surgery or even called her. I feel blessed to have a mother who sleeps in my hospital room every day no matter what I'm stricken with.
that is terrible!! i hope you get better soon, even if they don't care many people do trust me... you deserve better indeed ♡
at least youve got some good friends op
make sure your parents know that you'll remember this when it comes time to pick a home
I'm sorry OP. I'm glad you have great friends that helped you out.
Is anybody else wondering why she was unconscious in the first place?

Glad you're doing well now!
That's horrible. But I'd like to know what happened with your family??
In those situations a life jacket would be no help and more of a hinderance. Life jackets are there to help your head above the water and to allow you to just float with out having to swim tiring you out and then your drowning!
It wouldn't have made a difference; OP was caught & dragged underwater by a rope. A life jacket won't solve that.
OP, that honestly sounds like a dramatic short film! And I sea you're OK now, fortunately. It appears that you have an ocean of problems with your family, and it appears that there's a wide gulf to be bridged with them. On the bright side, you have quite the tale to tell for the rest of your existence! :)
How would a whistle benefit in this situation?
You owe it to your friends op!Your family are Dicks though
I see you're from the Netherlands as well so now of course I'm wondering where you were sailing? I'm an amateur and only sail when it's easy weather (and preferably on lakes/canals)- what was your windforce? Glad to hear you're doing alright! Get well soon :)
Fortunately I was not wearing a life jacket. If I had been wearing one, there would have been no way for me to get out from under the boat.
You're a freakin' champ - Glad you pulled through!
I saw this movie but jeeez. I'm glad you're okay! & "how would a whistle benefit" uhm. TITANIC? LMAO. ..kidding.
This is epic. FYL but WOW, what a story! I'm sorry your parents are lame.
Oh god, I'm glad you survived, that sound like a horrible experience.

They'll probably regret it someday. Sorry it happened to you OP.
