Today, I attended the funeral of a close friend. Most of the other guests were openly grinning and joking around, and the guy in front of me kept muttering, "That's what she said!" during the eulogy. FML

Today, I got a horrible case of the hiccups while at my friend's mother's funeral, resulting in me squeaking loudly every five seconds during the eulogy. My friend glared daggers at me until I left the room, then later accused me of being an insensitive bitch for "trying to ruin the funeral." FML

Today, at my mother's open-casket funeral, my sister-in-law went to pay her respects. As she stood in front of the body, she coughed, muttering "Bitch" in the process. Either nobody else noticed or nobody cared, and she went on her way, noticeably not choked up at all. FML

Today, a friend asked me to cover his shift at work because his grandmother died. Like any decent friend, I obliged. Later, after leaving, I walked by a bar and saw him inside, laughing and doing shots with all of our friends. FML

Today, I attended my husband's funeral and my son carried out the eulogy, which basically turned into a character assassination, ending with "and I hope Hell is hot enough for you, old man." Almost our entire family agreed with every word he said. FML

Today, I attended my mother's funeral. My husband came too, and during the service, I kept hearing him giggling. I wrote it off as the usual awkward nerves, until he started snorting too, and I caught sight of the iPhone under his jacket. He was reading this very site. FML

that guy sounds like a complete idiot, I would have hit him in the arm and told him to shit the hell up, then said and for the record "your an asshole" that's what I said! maybe it would have shut him up. I can't stand when people can be so disrespectful anyways but a funeral is no place for that.

I think it is very normal for people to lightheartedly share fun/funny stories of the deceased at a funeral! Surely they are upset, but being able to laugh about the good times together is a very good way for people to let off some steam. The other dude was just being rude and shouldn't even be there.

What a ****** ass. If I were you I'd set the room straight and say something. There is no reason for all of that nonsense. If they wanted to talk crap and act like kids then they should have left. It is so disrespectful to act like a douche at someone's funeral.
