Today, I attended the funeral of a close friend. Most of the other guests were openly grinning and joking around, and the guy in front of me kept muttering, "That's what she said!" during the eulogy. FML

Then it seems you were his only true friend there.

That's really sad and disrespectful. Unless he was the type of guy who would rather people joke around than be sad

So sad. People need to learn that you never speak ill of the dead

No one said they were speaking ill of the dead...

People really should have respect for the dead

That's awful. They could be trying to mask their pain with humor, but there is a time and place for everything.

depends on the guy in the casket if he has a weird sense of humor he might not mind and wanted his funeral to be a happy one I would of course there would be mourning bit like nick swardson said higher john stamos to be there or maybe the grim reaper I would prefer both

Sign of the times, unfortunately. Allow me to guess, these morons where in shorts as well.

Yeahhhhh..... that's only really acceptable at Fred Phelps's funeral, or Kim Jong-un's, or Chris Brown's if he doesn't stop being an annoying ****.

I'd want my funeral to be like that. If anyone showed up. I'd also want there to be a party afterwards and for everyone to get drunk.

It's one thing to be light hearted at the viewing, but during the actual funeral and eulogy you should show respect for the dead AND the family who are grieving.

mexican tradition is sad durind the eulogy and furneral and have a party afterwards to honor thr deceased and celebrate that he is in a better place.

Why would they even bother going if they were just going to be assholes... some have no respect.

There are still cliques of Americanized hipster douche canoes. OP just appears to either know or hang out with way more of them than usual.
