Today, I attended the funeral of a close friend. Most of the other guests were openly grinning and joking around, and the guy in front of me kept muttering, "That's what she said!" during the eulogy. FML

Then it seems you were his only true friend there.

That's really sad and disrespectful. Unless he was the type of guy who would rather people joke around than be sad

at my uncles funeral we had people come up and tell funny stories about him... humor helps some people with their grief.. hopefully that's what the others were doing?

Should have just smacked that guy for being an asshat! People are so disrespectful and it's a damn shame. :/ ugh. Sorry for your loss op. some people just don't get it.

Wow that's really disrespectful. He should've been kicked out. I'm so sorry for your loss, OP. stay strong and everything will be ok

well actually it seems like your friend's life sucked..i hope he's in a better place now

Holy crap, I read that comment to fast. I was shocked and repulsed originally when I thought you typed out "FHD - **** Her To Death" instead of "**** Her Death". I am so glad I checked that again to confirm it was my eyes playing tricks on me. Can you imagine the reaction if someone had said that at a funeral with what I thought you typed out originally? O_o

To be fair, you never know, if it was a young guy that died and the gusts were young they might be doing that as a way to cope, and even if they weren't young it could still be a coping mechanism.

When I'm gone just carry on on, don't mourn rejoice, just know that I'm looking down at you smiling, I know you're feeling pain, but baby don't feel the pain, just smile back.

Well, joking around is common at funerals, because thats how a lot of people cope with difficult situations. But the "Thats what she said" was A) hugely inappropriate and B) never funny

thats just disrespectful. People these days its a funeral not a social event!
