Today, I burned my hand while making breakfast. As I staggered around the kitchen in agony, looking for some burn cream, my cat figured he'd latch onto said hand and drag his claws through the burn. FML

He's usually such a sweet cat! I have no idea if I scared him or what :/ Still hurts!

Sounds like a catastrophe. Sorry, I just had to.

This made me weep with secondhand pain feel for you OP

You must have a really smart cat. Like a good neighbor, a cat is always there.

As someone who has owned cats for their whole life, I'm curious how this happened. Was the cat on the counter while you were cooking? Or did you put your burned hand down to where the cat was? I mean, it sounds incredibly painful and I'm so sorry it happened but I can't wrap my mind around the how.

he was probably just trying to look at it.

maybe he was smelling the burnt flesh and he thought you had food in your hand.

He was probably scared if you were yelling a lot. Cats can spook pretty easily.

He was on the table directly behind me, where we have to keep his food and water so the dog won't eat it. I guess I must have scared him when I jumped back. Or thought I was playing. Either way, days later it still smarts!

would point out Cats are predators and will attack if they see weakness. hope the dog at least tried to save you from the cat.

Like a dog isn't a predator and could've done the same thing. Besides, cats doesn't see weakness. Where did you ever get that from? It just sounds like bull to me, as a person who has had cats my entire life.
