Today, I decided to try LSD with a few friends in a safe environment. As an artist, I had planned to spend my trip doing psychedelic paintings and had all my supplies set up. Apparently I spent most of my time in fetal position muttering about the "evil easel" and never even touched my canvas. FML

Looking at the comments I see we've got some seriously mixed opinions about me. So, first off: Hi, I'm Juniper, I'm 23 and I'm in art school in the US. I have never tried LSD or any other kind of "hardcore" drug before this. My friend had some tabs that he had used before and asked me if I wanted to try it. I agreed, only after doing extensive research, and determining that the risk was one I was willing to take. During that research, I stumbled across some beautiful works of people who had done art under the influence and thought perhaps I could have some fun trying that as well. I'm an art student and always open to new things. My parents were also hardcore hippies back in the day, and they've told me about their psychedelic experiences. I knew my risks. I have no plans to take LSD again, although I'm not currently suffering any adverse effects aside from water tasting kinda metallic for the next 24 hours (this took place about a week ago.) And the FML is actually not entirely true, but exaggerated for comedic effect. The paranoia and muttering did not last the entire time, only about 15-30 minutes. My entire trip lasted about 9-10 hours. One of my friends decided to remove the easel when she saw that it was making me upset. I think its large, angled presence in the room was off-putting. I actually spent the majority of my time having a good trip, my friends took great care of me. And despite not touching my canvas, I made some radical drawings. I did my research, I knew my risks, I set myself up responsibly. I'm not looking for sympathy or support– I just thought I'd share my kinda funny story. Those of you who are calling me an idiot are entitled to your opinions, but you're not insulting a wall. I'm a human being that makes choices for myself. Those of you who abstain from drugs, you should be proud! That's wonderful and healthy, but please allow and do not judge me for my own choices. My experimental phase is not harmful or offensive to you. And to my fellow art junkies: I wasn't expecting to create a masterpiece, this was for fun. I'm a learning artist!

Drugs are harmful for you regardless of how 'safe' the environment is perceived to be.

Apparently it wasn't a very safe environment if even your easel is evil.

i dont agree with everyone straight up saying you're wrong for trying LSD. do your thing! but i think relying on a trip to inspire you was a mistake. gotta let the trip guide you through it instead of tryinh to control it. and for that, YDI!

i so want to do lsd... did it give u a bad trip? because ive heard that lsd's initially always gives a bad trip....

Probably not the best place to try it the first time, too much sensory overload for the unprepared!!

You need to try shrooms. You'll have a much happier experience. I've never tried LSD but I would think it's like most drugs if you go into it with a happy positive vibe and mind then you'll have a positive experience and vice versa. Good luck.

I've actually found that people who have LSD before Shrooms find Shrooms horrid and people who have Shrooms first don't like LSD. I had LSD first and I ALWAYS have bad experiences with shrooms no matter how positive I am and the people around me are.

I bet you called it an evil easel because you felt pressure to make something. I hope you don't give up your experiments. I think you'll be pleased with the journey. And I'm sorry other people are jerks.

How so you forget your LSD trip? I've done it once and remember pretty much everything that happened..

Ok, as for the statement I made, it was not posted in the right place. I'm an artist also. As for LSD, I have taken it in the past, many people I know have taken it. I've NEVER, EVER heard of anyone dying or becoming addicted to this particular drug. NOT ALL DRUGS ARE CREATED EQUAL. Some can and do addict you almost immediately. I've never taken cocaine, opium, heroin, meth, etc. because of all the VERY WELL DOCUMENTED problems they cause. Acid can destroy brain cells when taken often enough. People, especially those with high IQ's can have already existing mental conditions become more prominent. Mushrooms are safer. Basically the same effect, not as freak-out prone. As for your experiment.... you were very ambitious the first time and thought you could control the situation with a powerful, unknown drug. Should you ever try to do this again, be in a safe, friendly environment you won't be leaving for the next 12 hours or so. DON'T try to "do" things unless you feel like it. Part of being an artist is learning from your environment. Go with the flow.

Don't get me wrong, I've had a very bonding experience with a friend on psilocybin, but I would not suggest someone trying it without having already had a couple of experiences with the world of psychedelics before hand. I am incredibly confused at how many people say that people should try psychedelic mushrooms and never LSD, if you don't know fungi very well you could easily end up with poisonous mushrooms as opposed to psychedelic ones.

Wow.. I love how you "dis-like" people's comments. Most of you are defending his actions LSD is not a great drug! But it's his body let him **** **** it up.

Oh, and I've done DMT. Once. It's great, but intense, intense, intense. Don't try that one unless you have done acid at least a few times. It only lasts 15 minutes, but those are some of the more memorable minutes of your life. No worries on killing yourself, you can't move during the experience. Side effects? Unexplained cheerfulness for about three days, and colors seem less intense in the real world because you've seen some that are amazing and don't exist in the regular world.

Gosh, everyone is so uppity! Yea it could of caused some long term impacts, it didn't. He thought it would make a funny FML, it did. He shouldn't have to apologize. In fact if I was OP I wouldn't of even entertained a follow up!
