oldshitnewshit tells us more.
Looking at the comments I see we've got some seriously mixed opinions about me. So, first off: Hi, I'm Juniper, I'm 23 and I'm in art school in the US. I have never tried LSD or any other kind of "hardcore" drug before this. My friend had some tabs that he had used before and asked me if I wanted to try it. I agreed, only after doing extensive research, and determining that the risk was one I was willing to take. During that research, I stumbled across some beautiful works of people who had done art under the influence and thought perhaps I could have some fun trying that as well. I'm an art student and always open to new things. My parents were also hardcore hippies back in the day, and they've told me about their psychedelic experiences. I knew my risks. I have no plans to take LSD again, although I'm not currently suffering any adverse effects aside from water tasting kinda metallic for the next 24 hours (this took place about a week ago.) And the FML is actually not entirely true, but exaggerated for comedic effect. The paranoia and muttering did not last the entire time, only about 15-30 minutes. My entire trip lasted about 9-10 hours. One of my friends decided to remove the easel when she saw that it was making me upset. I think its large, angled presence in the room was off-putting. I actually spent the majority of my time having a good trip, my friends took great care of me. And despite not touching my canvas, I made some radical drawings. I did my research, I knew my risks, I set myself up responsibly. I'm not looking for sympathy or support– I just thought I'd share my kinda funny story. Those of you who are calling me an idiot are entitled to your opinions, but you're not insulting a wall. I'm a human being that makes choices for myself. Those of you who abstain from drugs, you should be proud! That's wonderful and healthy, but please allow and do not judge me for my own choices. My experimental phase is not harmful or offensive to you. And to my fellow art junkies: I wasn't expecting to create a masterpiece, this was for fun. I'm a learning artist!

You totally deserved it but this is just awesome.
Frank Olsen. Enough said.
Dude, from one artist to the next... I can very clearly see where you are coming from - there have been some amazing artworks created by artists (not going to mention names here) who have been inspired by the crazy and sometimes beautiful array if things they see when they are on a trip... And I understand that you just wanted to capture abit of that for yourself. Like I said, I totally get where you are coming from but it doesn't happen for everyone, as you have discovered lol As for me, I've never actually done that (taken a drug to induce inspiration).. I'm actually too chicken, and I also know that sometimes if you take a harsh drug, you may never come out of it and that scares me. Stay safe and off the drugs from now on okay? And when it comes to artistic inspiration, you know that it can't be forced, don't you? Cheers. x
those saying lsd doesn't kill maybe you can explain that to the families of the kids in my home town who tried to peal of their skin because while tripping they thought their skin was infected and had to get rid of it even the "safest" of environments can go bad with drugs involved
They're talking about being directly killed by said drug. Not dying from actions while on said drug.
They were probably on meth not LSD no one has tried peeling their skin off while on appropriate amounts of LSD
last I checked actions while on drugs do in fact mean that the drug caused it. Being under the influence means you are being influenced.
Even so, all other things aside. First of all, everyone in that group was under the influence correct? They had not prepared/ made their conditions safe. Second of all, that does not sound like lsd. Ive heard cases where people thought they could fly but never pulled off their skin.
but that doesn't mean it directly killed you. directly would be something like an OD on a drug.
That sounds scary, i'm glad your friend took away the easel they're good friends for looking after you. I would never do drugs and can't anyway because i've got a serious mental illness which would exacerbated by them.
I'm a cartoonist and would never take drugs because my art is already "cool". In fact I would never take drugs, period. It's bad enough I have to take pills my doctor gives me every day and knowing about all the horrific side effects or reactions I could get. YDI
I don't really understand why everyone is getting their panties in a twist. Some people are bending over backwards to defend you and others are basically throwing rocks at you. I don't understand why anyone cares so much about your decision? You did your research and had friends looking out for you. It was an experimental thing. But either way it doesn't affect anyone else's life
some very boring people commenting... its his life to live n choose wat he wants to do ... live ya life while ya still young n can
he never said that they said it's their life and they can live anyway then want (I agree as long as it doesn't harm anyone else)
If Mr.T says "Don't do drugs" you dont do drugs.
sorry to hear about your bad trip. LSD is very fun in a safe environment. I enjoyed being outside in fall the best. do whatever you think is best for you. hope you make some awesome artwork if there is a next time.

Drugs are harmful for you regardless of how 'safe' the environment is perceived to be.
Apparently it wasn't a very safe environment if even your easel is evil.
