prewald92 tells us more.
OP here just to clarify a few things. The position was just part time supervising other cashiers and making sure they get their breaks on time. I've been with the store two years now but life goes on. As for college I take all my classes online and any classes I have to take on campus I have down to just going one day a week, so I can get hours to take care of my daughter.I was more offended by her comment but she can think whatever she wants.

As someone who also works for Home Depot I know how frequently this happens. just hang in there we'll be off to better things soon!
#42 I've often thought I would take a job with the Depot when retired so I could hang out with all the tools and building stuff. As many trips I've made there, might as well work there. sorry to hear things are a little sideways for op, you and others.
Or that new person worked harder
Go to Walmart you get a 10% discount
Yeah because somebody working his way through university wants to work at Walmart. OP should get a job or internship in the field they are studying to make it easier to start a career after graduation.
Unfortunately a lot of people in management positions are very insecure. They do not want intelligent, competent people that are working for them to rise above them. She is most likely feels threatened by you.
Too true. I've had at least one interview where I knew as I walked in that I hadn't got the job for that very reason.
You won't amount to anything...at Home Depot, because you're going to leave for bigger and better things and they know it. They don't want to spend the time training somebody, and become reliant upon them, only to have them leave. They probably chose the new guy because Home Depot is the best he can do and giving him the promotion means he will stay with the company that much longer, love them that much more, and work that much harder. They gave you a huge compliment - you're too good for Home Depot.
just do the best you can to prove your boss wrong
I am so sorry OP. I'm in the same position it sucks. They just promoted someone who is still in high school and she's constantly on her phone. She never gets the door for the guests and she complains about the job everyday. I feel ya. But every manager looks at things differently. The things that you think you are doing right, may not be what that manager was looking for. Like for example, a manager may not care if you stock up or keep your desk clean, but they might really care for you just simply being 20 min early. Hang in there OP! Good luck
hahaha...they just ****** themselves over
There are many people in the world with college degrees who did not amount to anything. That sense of entitlement surely won't help.

I worked for the Home Depot for 5 years in the past... What a waste of my life. I don't recommend it.
Sometimes it's the people no one imagines anything of that do the things nobody can imagine.
But that's the point, isn't it #63? That the ones you don't imagine doing anything great in life, that becomes so great when they do something you never imagined anyone to do anyway. Because they actually did, and you never expected them to.

I'm sure you're more qualified, but she's probably looking for someone more long term. Since you'll probably leave when you have a better job opportunity in the future.
I'm sure that you'll be laughing at them once you get your degree and move on to bigger and better things!
