Today, I found out that a coworker and I may get laid off soon, all because my boss's niece told him she can do both our jobs all by herself, and for less money. FML

if you can't go though HR take it the National Labor relation Board NLRB, it a federal watch dog organization so they should be in all states,even in those BS 'right to work' states

Isn't 'laid off' where the company completely doesn't need your job? But the boss wants to give the jobs away... This sounds like being fired... :(

Sucks that you lost your job OP. I don't understand though why everyone is going crazy when there is a chance she can do those things. We hired a girl to replace two jobs because of her impressive interview and confidence, she is living up to those expectations. It is possible the boss' niece can do the job quicker and better.
