Why exactly does her using the word "obsession" mean she deserves it? There are people who are obsessed with criminal acts (like stealing for instance) - the two terms aren't the same, but they're not exactly opposite either.
Bashing can mean verbal or physical abuse. Verbally bashing is not a crime. If he was actually going out and assaulting people then I hope she would have dumped him way before this.
