Today, I found out the reason I've been itchy for the last two weeks is because I'm now allergic to chlorine. I'm also a swimming instructor. FML

That completely sucks. Time for a career change.

Allergies are not always present from birth or childhood. They can develop from the environment in adulthood.

it's not an fml just go to a pool that uses bromine instead of chlorine. easy fix.

I have wonderful news for you...almost no one uses Chlorine in pools anymore anyway! They use Bromine! So you are good. :-)

I'm allergic to chlorine too. It sucks so bad

Sorry to say but this just made my day I thought I was the only one who had this bizarre allergy. I developed it in 6th grade when swimming class was mandatory for the whole year, they didn't think my excuse was "valid" enough. It sucks because I love swimming :(

ahaha there's a girl in my gym class who's allergic to chlorine too! whenever we swim in the school pool the guys try to splash her

benadryl and anti itch about 15 mins before going in. i'm allergic to it too.

how come you know how to swim and have trained as an instructor, yet haven't swum in a chlorinated pool before?????

One can develop allergies over time, you know. Sincerely, the girl who cannot eat peanuts anymore. I really miss Snickers....

Maybe you can get a job somewhere with a salt water system

But that doesn't make any sense? To be a swimming instructor you need to know how to swim and have to have taken lessons. You would have known as a child you were allergic. Your story is completely fake
