Today, I found that windshield wipers on my car had been stolen. I bought a pair of new ones for around $10 but when I was trying to put them in place, I failed to hold a wiper holder and it slipped down on the windshield, causing cracks. Now I have to replace the windshield which will cost approximately $150. FML

Hi to all! I'M THE AUTHOR OF THIS FML :) Thanks for your votes and conversation! Some remarks: my car is Skoda Fabia (2002), windshield was Ok before this thing happened, and the windshield was cracked by the wiper holder (wiper arm), without a wiper itself. It of course didn't break into pieces - just the inferior layer of the glass got a "star" of cracks 10-15 cm each which are gradually growing :( P.S. In my country (Ukraine) average month salary is probably ~$250 and up to 1/3 of people live for half of that. P.P.S. I myself was surprised to see my wipers stolen as those old ones cost $3-4 max :) And I thought that steeling such things was left somewhere in 1990-s

Lol in Ecuador people steal the wipers off your car and then they ask if you would like to buy them back at the next intersection XD gotta love my old country

that's why women shouldn't try to fix there own cars !!!

That must be the shittiest windshield in the world... sounds about right for something worth just 150$. Get a proper windshield.

If a bare wiper holder coming down on your windscreen caused it to crack then there was probably cracks already there but too small for you to see them. It may sting right now but when would you rather find out that your windscreen isn't that resistant? Now when you are replacing the wipers or when you are cruising down the motorway at 70mph?

#25: I was thinking the same thing!! The cracks are sometimes so small or look like dirt, so you don't realize you need to get your windshield fixed. I've seen it plenty of times--and when the windshield actually breaks, it isn't usually in good situations (such as being on the freeway, etc...)

And that's why you should learn how to type properly.

how the hell did that happen, unless you have a shitty windshield. the wipers are designed to snap back down when you let go or nudge them out of a vertical position, you'd think they wouldn't design them like that if it caused this to happen. In the dead of winter after de-icing my windshield i let my wipers snap back down, never caused a crack and that's in 30 degree below weather (-22 for you Americans). Crazy..

30 degrees Celsius is 86 degrees fharenheight

Windshield was broken by a bare wiper holder (wiper wasn't put in place yet). Of course, glass didn't fall into pieces but the cracks are gradually growing and finally I'll have to replace it.

God, people these days. People will steal everything even though it's crap.
