Today, I gave feedback on how our store is run at the owners' request, because they don't understand why everyone keeps quitting. I guess they took it personally, because they asked me not to come back. FML

Some business owners aren't meant for business

People rarely see the positive side in constructive criticism. Most just dwell on negativity without giving notice to the potential for change.

Usually, it's not what you say but how you say it. I'm kinda wondering how it was phrased.

Should've lied and told them what they wanted to hear. Some people only want to hear what they want.

Sorry to hear that. I found out long ago that they really don't want to hear the answer. So now I say, if you really want to hear what I have to say I will tell you. Usually they don't because I am honest to a fault.

Ah, the naiveté of youth. Never, ever, tell an employer what you honestly think. You signed your own pink slip for that one.

Contrary to what most are saying, good on you for telling it how it is OP. That business was already floundering anyway if that have that hard of a time with employee retention. It was either get fired or get laid off. They won't heed your advice until their filing for bankruptcy. On the bright side, there's many corporations that do listen to their employees (Lean, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints) and not being a yes man will set you apart.
