Today, I got into my first car accident. I side swiped the truck next to me merging into another lane. He was in my blind spot. It was a cop. FML

If he was on a bike, you could have killed him. Learn to drive before you end up seriously hurting someone.

Dude. You're meant to check your blindspot.

since when are cops in trucks!?

could have been his off duty car. he didnt say he was on duty. he could have found out while they were exchanging information. think before you speak.

58 is right, but it depends on the state / city anyway. At least a third of the cops in San Antonio drive big SUVs.

I've seen plenty o' cops around here drivin big, white, ford F150s, decalled up with lights and everything. A couple SUVs too, some of'em are even in chargers or mustangs. Some undercover, some not. Though the vast majority are still drivin' crown vics.

since they had to pick up your mom...

Here in Phoenix, we have lots of cops in pickup trucks for motorist assist on the freeways, in transport vans, and search and rescue vehicles, not to mention SWAT and bomb squad.

You mention that he was in your blind spot as if that somehow shifts the blame away from you. It's your responsibility to check your mirrors and shoulder check as well. There must be a whole lot of lazy dmv employees these days, they seem to be handing out unearned licenses like candy!
