Today, my boss yelled at me, telling me that I can't answer the phone anymore. Not because I do a bad job, but because a co-worker whined about it being her job. People call her and complain about how rude she is and then ask to talk to me. FML

Today, I learned that asking your boss, “Am I gonna get paid extra?” when he asks that you chip in for your co-worker-who-just quit’s duties is not an appropriate response. In fact, I was written up for “insubordination” and “inability to be a team player.” FML

Today, I got in trouble for following the rules at work. This is the third workplace where this has happened. Each time, when I provided the written document that showed the rules that I followed, I was told, "Well…" Don't make it a "rule" if it's really going to be a guideline with 50+ possible exceptions. FML

It sounds like that procedure was taken from the military. You have to talk to your superiors by order of rank. So you would have to go to the one just above you, and if he or she can't help you, then you would both consult the next ranking superior from them. If you skip through the ranks and talk to an office, it better be damn well worth wasting their time because they will feel insulted if you have annoyed them for something really trivial that could have been solved without their elite powers.
