Mismanaged

Today, I got in trouble for following the rules at work. This is the third workplace where this has happened. Each time, when I provided the written document that showed the rules that I followed, I was told, "Well…" Don't make it a "rule" if it's really going to be a guideline with 50+ possible exceptions. I think you should become a quality inspector. Or a document control worker. or join the military. These would suit your personality, I believe, and you would become much happier with your career. People like you have a dedication to processes that is needed. Sounds like even Boeing needs more like you.

You know what it means... don't do as they say, do as they do.

Once and OP would be in the right. Twice and maybe it's a coincidence. Three times?... I have the impression OP is a passive aggressive personality and delights in finding inconsistencies in work policies and then gleefully pointing out those inconsistencies by maliciously following the rules when they know it's the wrong thing to do under those specific circumstances... Yes, everyplace has rules and procedures and often there are conflicts and inconsistencies - But it's rare that people don't really know the right thing to do - At the very least ask for clarification.

Every job I've had has tried to screw me out of pay & time off. knowing the rules is the ONLY way to ensure your rights are protected. Let the company be pissed. They shouldn't screw their employees over.

Sometimes you got to go along to get along.
