Today, I had to explain to my husband that it's biologically impossible for cats and dogs to cross-breed, and that his "brilliant idea" of getting ours to mate is just plain disturbing. He still doesn't believe me. FML

It's cat-dog in real life! Maybe you should show him the cartoon, then he will understand it's a dead and impossible concept.

I fear for your cat and dog. Good luck with him OP.

That level of stupidity has "we're over" written all over it.

OP, why did you marry this guy? Do the world a favor and don't have kids with this guy. Not promoting his genetic material to future generations would be a huge improvement to the genetic pool world-wide. So, go find yourself a smart guy.

So your husband thinks he is the first person ever to have the wonderful idea to make a cat-dog and that generations of people have just ignored the possibility? In reality dogs and cats have a different number of chromosomes. Very different numbers. While horses and donkeys are similar and match up rather closely (resulting in sexually sterile mules), cats and dogs are just too damn different.

Sounds like you married a real winner there. I would get him a Tamagotchi and keep him away from the family pets. "Look kids! The cat and dog are gonna have babies!" = Kids either too traumatized or too stupid to make it in the real world. You sure he doesn't have mad cow disease or he isn't taking hallucinogenic drugs?

I think your husband is just messing with you, that is a Simpsons episode, where Homer gets bored and tries to breed snowball, and Santa's little helper.

Ya know there's a theory that the reason evolution went faster than the one-gene-mutates theory could explain is interspecies breeding.

Through science, anything is possible. Scientists are able to gene splice specific traits from a anime and plant in another. This can also be used to create cross bread animals. It has been done, just frowned upon.

sadly that is impossible, but with the scientists talking about gene therapy and what not, I'm sure sometime in the future we'll be able to create abominations of nature. :-)
