Today, I had to work at the restaurant instead of going to the prom, which nobody asked me out to. For five hours, I got to shamefully greet and seat people on their way home from the prom, all of whom knew I was too lame to get asked out. FML

Today, at work, I was supposed to have an easy two-hour shift, after which I was planning on attending a party that had been arranged to celebrate my graduation. Nearly six hours later, I am just getting home after being super busy and shorthanded at work for hours. I missed my own party. FML

Today, I spent almost nine hours cleaning because I was promised I could go to junior prom if my room was cleaned. I missed a dust bunny and couldn't go. I had a date for this, who I'd had a crush on for over a year and barely managed to ask to go with me. FML

Today, I invited my girlfriend to go eat out, hoping to put her in a really romantic mood. She decided to tell her friend, who then invited herself and another couple along. I ended up being made fifth wheel, and had to sit alone at an adjacent table. FML

Today, one of my teachers asked me to babysit their kids saturday night. She didn't forget that it was Prom night, she was going to chaperone it. My teacher assumed I wasn't invited to Prom... I wasn't. FML

Today, I went to prom with my two friends. I was ditched by my prom date because he had “other plans.” The weird thing is that when we got to the prom location, I saw him with another date. FML

Today, I wanted to take my girlfriend to a nice dinner before prom. Her parents followed her in, and joined us to "keep an eye on me." They interrupted all our conversations, ate an expensive meal, then got up and walked out when the waitress brought the $95 check, leaving me to pay for it. FML

Today, while serving at my restaurant, a mother acted as a wing-woman for her son by insisting I read a note he'd written, asking for my number. I had to awkwardly reject the guy in front of his entire family, before having to keep serving them for another hour. FML

Today, my cute coworker begged me to cover his shift tomorrow, and told me that he wanted to take me to dinner to make up for it. I was very excited because I've been crushing on him for a long time. I later overheard him tell his friend that he didn't plan on showing up for our dinner. FML

Don't sweat it OP, no one asked me to prom either but I still went with my friends anyway. Prom is REALLY not what it's hyped up to be like on TV and movies where everybody's having the greatest time of their lives; I was ready to go home two hours in! The food was terrible, the music was supplied by the same boring DJ that was at our homecoming, and the dance moves just consisted of everyone grinding on each other! Ugh. I am glad I went though, but if you don't go it's really not a big deal. You're not missing out ^.^

Awww, don't worry. It gets better after high school. I was kind of a loner, too. No one ever asked me to prom. It's really not a big deal in the scheme of things, though I know that must've sucked at the time.

Prom 100% doesn't matter anymore beyond high school, which is almost over by the time it arrives anyway. Nobody NEEDS a date to go to their HS prom/formal. (Unless you're at one of those asshole schools..) I weht stag with friends, danced by myself/random other girls and had a great time.

Prom is just a dance with bad catering and people grinding everywhere. Yet people still have the audacity to call it 'the most important day of your life'. Um, no. Prom is blown up and I don't think you missed much :)

I feel for you. High school is difficult at the best of times and your time in the sunlight is coming. Some day you will find a wonderful man. And have the perfect job and then they can wait on you. Well I hope anyway. Chin up. High school will be over before you know it.
