Today, I had to work at the restaurant instead of going to the prom, which nobody asked me out to. For five hours, I got to shamefully greet and seat people on their way home from the prom, all of whom knew I was too lame to get asked out. FML

Prom is lame anyway, why would you want to go? I mean, everyone knows all the cool kids don't go, right?

If you were that desperate to go, why didn't you ask somebody?

I'm calling a you deserve it. You could have asked someone yourself instead of waiting to be asked, or you could have gone to the prom alone. That's what I did, and I had a great time! Unless you were scheduled for that day against your will and unable to change shifts or something, this one's all on you.

It may seem like it sucks now, but the truth is this: nobody cares about the prom or anything that went on in high school after high school. Yeah, there'll be a few drunken laughs about it in college, maybe. But in short order, (really short) it will all be just something that went on when you were a kid.

My school didn't have "prom" at all. Prom isn't something we do here.

My husband and his mates went alone and made it a boys night out (before he met me) and partied, seriously though prom is not all its hyped up to be and you will be ok, prom isn't the be all and end all.

I never went to prom either. Instead, I worked that night too.

I had to ask my date out to prom because I knew I wasn't going to get asked. He's now currently my boyfriend of 4 years, so sometimes breaking conventionality works out. But in reality, like everyone else said, no one really cares about prom later.

I'm sorry.that must have sucked for you :(

Don't worry....in years to come you won't even care about whether you went to prom or not. Besides, it's not that great. I went to my junior prom with my best guy friend, and it actually didn't become fun until after we left. My senior prom came around a year later and I didn't even bother. I actually think I spent the night watching anime. So you probably didn't miss much.

you don't HAVE to have a date to go to prom. Go with a group of friends. I did because my boyfriend at the time was in Iraq and it was more fun to be with all my friends instead if just.having to focus on one person all night.
