This is a surprisingly common thing to happen. If one manager is incompetent, they will only hire incompetent people because they know that people who are good at their jobs will expose them for the frauds that they are. Crony-ism is all too common in the workplace and almost impossible to eradicate in a workplace. You have 2 options really: 1) Play their game and get on with it 2) Prepare to not be in a job for long.
Job Security. You have to learn how not to work yourself out of a job. Part of growing up. Some never learn. Good luck.
