Today, I met my downstairs neighbor after she repeatedly banged on my floor as a way to quiet me down. I guess I'm not allowed to walk on my floor. FML

Pretty_Pisces tells us more.

Hey guys this is my FML! Anyway my neighbor downstairs has been trouble since I moved in. My 1 year old can't play with his toys and I can't so much as breathe without her acting passive aggressively toward me. I guess I should give her the benefit of the doubt because the unit above hers was empty for so long? But I met her at the mailbox the other day and told her as much as I tried to be quiet, I'm not dead. I will make a little noise since we live in an older complex. She hasn't really bothered me since then. Thanks for reading!

I actually have tap shoes from my dance days lol

Do you wear them often because it would explain alot

That stinks. I've never really lived in an apartment, but it sounds awful. I hope everything works out for you.

Had an issue with a neighbor like this because the person before me apparently had a gym set on the second floor. It wasn't till he threatened eviction that I said I would do the same for harassment that he stopped. He was an old man and had mental issues. For someone that hated loud noise he loved watching wrestling on full volume.

I thump on my ceiling b/c I don't know if my upstairs neighbor knows he's so loud-- sounds like he's moving furniture or running laps at 10 PM or 5 AM, heck yeah I'm gonna thump at him!

I don't get why neighbors in apartments get so angry when the other tenants make a little noise... to me, it comes with the territory. Every night at 9 pm my upstairs neighbor likes to smash bags of ice on the ground to break them up for smoothies (seriously). I'm not about to go bang on his door and tell him to keep it down. As long is it's decently quiet between 10pm and 6 am, I think it's fine.

I agree but I used to have a neighbor who would have fights with their SO that were so bad cops would need to be called often. After that I have more leniency with noise in my other neighbors until it's 2 am on a Wednesday morning and they're playing music so loud my pictures are falling off the walls.

Yeah, I'd say blasting music at 2 am is definitely grounds for a little confrontation, lol. It's more so when your neighbors are being noisy in normal ways (like walking or television or music, not constantly yelling or chopping wood) during daytime hours that really doesn't warrant any sort of passive-aggressive behavior.

Does this remind anyone of Friends? :')

Get a throw rug, it will muffle the sound

Many years ago my downstairs neighbor tried that on a Saturday morning while my young sons were playing. I slammed a 10 pound cast iron weight on the floor as hard as I could. Never heard another peep from them again. Remember you live over them so you have a better advantage then they do.

At least its not a relative doing this, I live above my grandparents and they're always doing this and threatening to get me kicked out.
