Today, I moved out of my apartment by the highway and airport, and into a new place below people who blast loud music, stomp their feet, and slam doors throughout the night. I haven't had a decent night's sleep in over a year. FML

Well, I get disability because I can't walk well and am really sick so I barely make enough to put up my part of the rent, let alone move. My best friend/roommate has already complained.

You can complain to like the residence office. Sorry I'm not sure what it's called exactly, but they'll give them a warning. We had people EXACTLY like that at my dads old apartment and they gave them a warning and once they got too many complaints, they were kicked out.

Well if you're just going to sit there and cry about it on FML then you deserve it. Get up and do something about it!

I think OP meant he/she hasn't slept for a year because he/she used to live near an airport and a highway. OP thought he/she would finally get to sleep in their new apartment only to find that his/her new neighbors are just as loud.

I'm a security guard at a luxury condo and let me tell you, this sort of crap happens all the time. It's a condo, filled with beautiful apartments, and at 3 in the morning people are trying to sleep. You can play music, but not too loud, and certainly do not have a 1,000 watt base system right next to the wall across from someone's bedroom. Damn. People are so inconsiderate it boggles the mind. Apartments are not meant to be used like clubs in the middle of the night. Blast your music during the day, that's annoying but acceptable. Not when people are trying to sleep for their mental health and well-being.

Time to move back to the highway!

Leases are 1-yr so why are you still there? Also, call the police.

Check your lease and your city's laws about noise violations. If the landlord doesn't/isn't successful in assist you with helping your neighbor learn common curtesy, as other have said, time to start calling the police.
