Today, I put my old kitchen table at the end of my driveway with a free sign on it. Later, I saw my neighbor drag it to his yard with a $50 for sale sign on it. It's now gone. FML

Today, I saw some really nice dining room chairs sitting out on the curb waiting for the garbage man. I went to the door to ask the owners why they were throwing them out. They told me it was because they had just bought new furniture. While I was talking to the owner, somebody else picked them up. FML

Today, I was moving to my new apartment. I left some furniture outside as I drove to dump the first load at my new place. When I got back, everything was gone. Apparently, today is the day the donation truck was coming around to take everything we don't need. FML

Today, after putting a bag of dirty laundry in the laundry room to wait for an open washer, I came back to find a "free stuff" sign on all of my expensive jeans, new towels, and favorite sweatshirts. The bag was over half empty. FML

Today, I was on the road, driving home. Before I'd headed out, I'd scored six amazing large house plants for free. My kids picked them up for me, and delivered them to my dining room. My husband put them out on the patio for me, in the sun, and burned them. Bye bye $100+ in free plants. FML

Today, I was taking out the trash and I came upon a bill from a veterinary hospital. It was for $50 and it was a bill to put my dog down. My Dad said my dog was missing and I put hundreds of signs around the city. FML

OP, don't complain. You said free, what else do you expect? Once someone takes it, they're allowed to do whatever they want with it.

if you say free not many people want it, they think something is wrong with it. if it has a price on it, it is likely to be stolen from you, getting rid of it. but sometimes people stop to pay you, which is just an added bonus. you ended up getting rid of it, so be happy!

Ugh! I'd rather give things away than to sell it and have to deal with people bartering and trying to beat me down in price. That's why I never have yard sales. I doubt your neighbor got more than $10 for it (if that) Look on the bright side, that ugly table is out of your house.

You didn't see anyone pay him for it, I know quite a few people who put free signs on stuff they didn't want but nobody wanted it because it wasn't worth anything, but it wasn't until they changed the sign to be 'worth' something that someone 'steals' it.
