Maybe you had the wrong type of microwave. Next time try one that has a built in convection oven. If your phone has an induction charger, this should work.

Lol. I had an iphone 3G that wouldnt charge through the cable, since I dont use the phone anymore I figured I'd give it a shot anyway assuming the worst. Phone fried and I tossed it, no harm done. lol, what idiot would try thus with a fully functioning cell?

No, see, it's like a seeing eye dog. The phone is smart so she doesn't have to be. Sadly, the training program for smart phones isn't as good as the one for seeing eye dogs.
