Ha! I can't believe this actually got posted!! I had just gotten home from my internship and wanted to vent anonymously. How funny. It is overwhelming, but I'm going to stick it out. I've learned my lesson: do not go in sick or with a full stomach.

You probably should've job shadowed before starting an education in it. Hopefully you haven't spent too much time or money on it yet.
I'm sure if he is already an intern a lot of money and time has been spent.
It isn't all healthy kittens and jolly puppies. If you didn't know that, this is your fault. Life's a bitch so you better wear a helmet and have at it.
Considering the difficulty and length of a veterinary science course, you'll have to think VERY long and hard before you make a decision like that. For starters, I reckon you should reserve judgement for at least a week, preferably a month at your internship before you decide to abandon those years of study. If you aren't actually serious and you played it up for effect, ignore all that ;)
I work around animals and hope to be a zoo keeper soon. That's all part of. I will shovel poop and clean puke. Animals are worth it.
why don't people think what a vet does before they choose it as a career??? You're not getting paid to pet dogs. damn.
"Forced to stuff a dead dog into a plastic bag" :(
so painful.
No sympathy. I've worked with animals for over 15 years and I knew exactly what I was getting into. Did you think you would sit around a day and play with puppies and kittens? YDI. .
It was a first day. Everyones first day there's something that they experience that make them want to rethink what they're doing. Besides, in OPs comment they stated that they're going to stick it out - and that they just wanted to vent.
