Today, I told my neighbor that I was going to Réunion Island on vacation in a few months. She said that she'd always wanted to go there. As a light-hearted joke, I said she should come with me. She's now booked a plane ticket. FML

Yeah, a lot of people just don't detect sarcasm/joking around. I'd imagine life is a lot less fun for them.

Except when your inability to take a joke lands you an island vacation. Sounds like a fun side effect. The sarcastic population would have laughed, applied their own wit to the conversation and been stuck at home while Miss Ultra-Literal is living it up. She may be on to something.

Just make sure you have someone come check your place on your vacation OP. Two empty houses next to each other is an easy mark for burglars, especially if they know exactly where and for how long you two will be gone.
