Today, I told my parents I wanted to try modelling. I decided that since I have such a low self-esteem, that it might benefit me, and make me feel better about myself and how I look. The first thing out of my dad's mouth was, "What? Why? You're ugly." Thanks dad. FML

Today, my mom and dad were talking about how if I lost weight, I would be attractive and have guys all over me. My dad said, “That’s exactly what I’m worried about.” It took me a while to realize they both think I’m ugly. FML

Today, I told my mom that I wanted professional head-shots done for Christmas. When asked why, I said "I want to submit them to a modeling agency." My mom exchanged looks with my sister before laughing so hard that she wet herself. FML

Today, I posted a picture of me without makeup on Facebook. A "friend" commented, "fuk me thts hideus!!" My dad replied, "Hideous, yes, just like your godawful spelling!" My mom yelled at my dad for agreeing with the guy, and they're still fighting. Meanwhile, my self-esteem is in the gutter. FML

Today, whilst trying on wedding dresses with my mom, she told me that I looked fat and awful in the dress I liked. When I told her how hurtful she was being, she told me that I should be grateful that she told me what she thought instead of laughing at me behind my back. FML

Wow... I wouldn't know what to say to him. I probably would have kicked him in the balls and blamed him for my being ugly. Well, if you're really ugly at least you know not to try... And if you're not, just go for it. You might have something to throw back in your dad's face.

If a woman is ugly and she asks a man, EVEN HER FATHER, whether she is pretty or not, HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY! Why should I lie to a woman just to make her feel better? There are three explanations: 1. Your dad is narrow minded and thinks modeling is for girls only, so wants to discourage you 2. He is just busting your balls and you are falling for it 3. You actually are not the eye-candy (which is your dad's fault, unless you are fat then there is no excuse) But unless you are trying for lingerie model there is no requirement to be good looking. P.S. To the ones that say most models are not good looking - get over the fact you got rejected on the casting or that he/she dumped you for a model.

I think there are some beautiful models, but from what Ive seen, without makeup, some are very average looking. At least on the women. That could easily be the toll the makeup takes on their face, in general. I can definitely appreciate beauty in either sex, that was just the take I have on some female models. I'm sure there is definitely something about them that is accented when they do shoots or runway. Also, for a lot of modeling, guys are VERY attractive. My friend doesn't really model for "lingerie" although he has done some underwear modeling. Ive seen his ads for Dockers, Diesel jeans, and quite a few more. The guys that do that stuff are pretty. I don't think you can really get away with being an ugly male model.
