Today, I was at a band concert with 500 other people. The song they were performing stopped, and I loved it so much I stood up and clapped. Everyone stared, while I slowly realized the song wasn't over. FML

no, i've been there: op was the only one who knew the song was over. the band started playing again to avoid an awkward situation when they saw that no one clapped. except one.

Don't worry I'm sure those 500 other people didn't even notice, except that they did. Sucks for you!

I doubt over five hundred people would notice one person clapping. Unless you have king Kong hands, I believe this is fake.

LOL! You clapped in between movements! YOU TOTALLY DESERVED IT FOR NOT KNOWING ANY BETTER! HA HA HA!!

Wow, how awkward. I feel for you, OP. But don't worry too much over it. It was an honest mistake.

If it were a concert, why would anyone care if you stood up and clapped?

Who would clap at a concert? Also you should pay more attention to your surroundings

Always watch the conductor's hands! They will not bring the baton down until the piece is over. Oh well, you learn something new every day.

If this is an orchestra or any performance with a conductor, just look at his/her hands. If they are still raised the song isn't over. If they are down the song is over and applause is appropriate. Just for future reference

I'm not really clear as to what sort of band concert you were at but it sounds like you were listening to symphonic music that has different movements. In between movements your not supposed to clap, & that's why no one else did.
