Yeah but if this was the first time that OP had heard such crying noises...then...ya kno'...might've been something a little more than wild animals :S ugh, that's when I'd be in a blanket in the corner, holding some sort of weapon while rocking back and forth waiting for daylight!
Around my parts, its usually bobcats.
Mountain lions make noises like a human baby crying or a woman screaming. I've heard both and it was utterly terrifying
baby crying? its probably a mountain lion.
I think that it's nothing to worry about. Sure, it may be creepy, especially if your home by yourself, but it was probably just an animal outside.
I would be hella creeped out. Go and hide under your blankets and pretend you're not there.
I used to live on an acreage and this actually happened to me. It was the voice of a young girl sobbing directly outside of my second story window. There used to be a tree there. But it was cut down years before this happened.

that's just creepy.. I say gtfo of there
It was likely just some animals having sex. When they're mating, a lot of animals - foxes especially - can sound rather horrifyingly like a human in distress.
