Today, I was babysitting. As I went to leave the bathroom, someone grabbed the knob and pulled the door shut. I figured it was one of the kids and told them to knock it off. A second later, the grip let off. There was no one there and the kids were still asleep. I don't know what to think. FML

Oh so it's was just ghosts then. Don't worry it's no big deal.

Oops, just saw "pulled the door shut," so I'm assuming it was actually open or you would've said "held" or something. Never mind, OP, it can only be ghosts. Burn the place down and salt the ashes, it's your only option now. Leave the kids, it's too late for them.

Might want to call Sam and Dean. Or the Ghostbusters.

Or maybe even Mulder and Scully. Get them all involved. Could be an Xfile.

Call all of them and watch them compete to get rid of it the fastest

It's not a ghost, because ghosts aren't real. You know what is real? Air. There is probably an air supply duct in the bathroom and the air return is probably nearby, like in the hallway outside the bathroom. When the fan comes on a there's a momentary pressure differential across the door that tends to shut it and you just happened to try the door at that moment. Relax and stop trying to make things more complicated than they really are.

Because I'm so sure that in that situation, your logical mind would kick in before flight or fight and your brain trying to make sense of it in the moment.

The way the FML was worded it sounds like the doorknob felt like it was being held at first when OP was trying to turn it. Air pressure wouldn't do that.

Yes, as a rational person I would look for a rational explanation of the phenomena before deciding it was some magic disembodied spirit or imaginary revenant no one can see or detect. If the first thought that springs to your mind when you see something that has no obvious explanation is "ghosts", then the height that thought had to spring isn't very far.

Ghost are real, idc what you think, ive seen that shit. My friends old house was, "haunted." He'd tell me all about it, i never believed him. I went to his house and stayed the night. I never came back. I SAW that shit walk across the ******* room.

Your argument would be better accepted if you didn't totally deny the other possibility. As a "rational" person surely you're aware that the only thing that's certain is that nothing is certain. There is always a chance that ghosts exist, who knows. tl;dr: I hate it when people state theories as facts.

As a rational person you should be open to all possibilities and realise that not everyone has the same personality (or rather, lack thereof) as you.

At least in the very off-chance they have a haunting, the spirit listened to you?... Not really much consolation.

Energy cannot be created nor destroyed; as living creatures we have electricity that connects the neurons in our body. Every thought process, physical sensation and feeling is controlled by the electricity in our body. My point...ghosts exist.

Not saying ghosts don't exist, but by that logic electricity wouldn't exist. Energy may not be able to be created or destroyed, but it can change forms.

I think that's what they were trying to say but missed all the things you said lol.

Lol Lala that is my point it changes but it didn't disappear because we die. I didn't go into detail because I thought what I was getting at was obvious... I suppose not that's for clarifying for me!

It could have just been the conditioner/heater kicking in. Sometimes when those start up they cause a random moment of suction that pulls doors closed. It happens all the time at my house. Doesn't mean I'm ruling out ghosts though.

That's what I'm thinking, or a draft because of an open window somewhere. Combined with a faulty door lock, it could easily be mistaken for a ghost.

So apparently you were ghost sitting too.

What is the going rate for babysitting ghosts?

I think it's sad that I've gone through all the comments so far and no one has suggested that maybe the kids weren't really asleep and they were messing with op

@20: If that were the case, wouldn't she have heard the sound of movement? Footsteps, shuffling, sound of them quickly getting into bed or something?

I was looking for this comment! They could've let go of the grip and then scampered away and jumped into bed? They would have to be crazy fast but kids can do crazy things.

They could be wearing socks or something. I know when I was a kid I used to **** with my older sister all the time at night.

What's worse, opening the door and seeing no one or opening the door and seeing someone?

The power of christ compels..........**** that............ run!!!!!!!!!!!

babysitting ghosts cost extra! better ask for a raise!
