We've all bin there.
The price of being too much into ur job
I would call labour relations , that is not an excuse to fire someone.
As an assistant manager, I can say that some times people get fired for a variety of reasons, OR those in charge just need an excuse to get rid of you. Example: Former employee gets a new job that pays well. Shows up for first day, calls off his second two days. Wonders why he gets fired.
Cut off post. Continuing here. Boss makes up excuse as to why he gets fired, claiming that they brought on more people than they could afford. Why do bosses do this? Sometimes it's easier to bullshit a bullshitter than to give a valid reason. Not saying this is your case though. Just an explanation
I hope you can get someone like a labor department or non profit organization on your side! There's gotta be a government entity in Canada that protects workers! Don't be afraid to contact them, even a national bureau! If you're not certain who to contact, reach out to SOMEONE and they ought to be able to direct you to the proper bureau. Idk labor laws there, but certainly thats got to be some sort of wrongful termination? Perhaps there would be a way for you to get pay you would have received?? Maybe if the company or agency gets rid of the problem supervisor, then you could have your job back??? Idk but don't give up! Much respect to you for taking on a tough job in the first place!
Already did thanks!
In the USA, our 6th amendment which has been incorporated into the states, lets everyone have a lawyer even if they are too poor to have one. So here you can get a lawyer for free if you cannot afford one. I don't know about Canada though.
The Sixth applies to criminal cases where you're a defendant. It does not give you the right to legal representation when filing your own claims. Even if it did, it's irrelevant to OP's circumstances.
heyyyy, I'm from BC as well, and you know what, you could probably even take this to the news. They'd maybe do a small segment, or maybe the newspaper would do a small article, but it'd be enough to get some interest. Also, some (not a whole lot) lawyers will take on a case with no up front costs and only take legal fees from you if you win.
Thanks Pal!
Hey OP. Also here in BC. Unfortunately, if you're not unionized, employers here do have the right to fire any employee without cause, they just have to provide compensation for the termination. If you've worked more than 3 weeks its 1 weeks pay, more than 1 year is 2 weeks and more than 3 years is 3 weeks + 1 additional week for every additional week of employment. If your employer doesn't provide you with this compensation you should take the case to the labour board. Make sure to have detailed notes of exactly what your boss said to you and when etc. The only way I can think of to get your job back would be to try and go above the boss that fired you. If there's no one above them, you're out of luck. It's not fair, but that's our current system.
Finally someone who said this how it is
