This genuinely confuses me. I never understood why guys think it's funny to play on the fact that they think a girl isn't pretty. Like is the thought process, "Hey look an ugly girl. It would be hilarious to fake ask her out/flirt with her as if she already doesn't feel inferior!" I'm annoyed, but can some guys actually answer me because I never got why you guys think it's funny. I'll always scratch my head when I see guys do that

A lot of people seem to be saying they think it was a bet for the guy to go up to a girl he thought was pretty. Remember- young guys are idiots. This happens so much it's unlikely he would be getting money for telling her she is pretty. Also, if he really thought her attractive. I don't think he would just say that and walk away. He probably would have continued the conversation. I've been flirted with and later found out it was a joke for fun. It's more common than most people think

I know your pain OP. Although the payed bet never happened to me, all the other 'jokes' did. The only way to feel better really is just to be above them. So sorry for you, OP.

ok people here is how to read the situation if the friends look annoyed it's probably I bet you won't talk to her points to you meaning he's very nervous he won't stick around because of it. if they look like they are laughing then it's but you can complacent her. Try talking to. him check his response if you go talk to him that will tell you a lot more, and maybe you can directly ask about it because he might actually like you but thinks he doesn't exist to you.
