AkGirl1991 tells us more.
This is the poster, and actually I had bought him a promise ring on valentines day. He used the box I gave him....I just thought. I might have been getting one in return. And no, I am not materialistic or ungrateful, and I know he can afford it. Just got my hopes up. If he had JUST given me the ring, it would have been great.

i don't think so in this case.....
I find it difficult to believe that anyone here calling the OP spoiled would jump for joy if they were in her position. Especially if they actually read her explanation in the comments instead of calling her names without bothering to consider all the facts given.
Welcome to the internet. None of us are as cruel as all of us~ Anonymity.
I am definitely putting this on my to-do list ^_^
No. 82's point, and it is valid, is that the boyfriend used misleading packaging for a cheap gift. Be honest; what would any of you think if your significant other handed you a box clearly marked with the name of a fine jewelry store. You'd think you were getting a piece of fine jewelry. It is not the fact that he gave the ring as a gift; it is the fact that he packaged it as an expensive piece of jewelry that is irksome. He did the old 'bait and switch,' getting her hopes up that this was a good piece of jewelry or even an engagement ring and it was clearly not even close. Now she has to grin like an idiot and thank him for his cheap gift in its pricy box. Which begs the question, also previously asked, what was originally in the Kay box? Jewelry stores do not give out their boxes like cocktail napkins at a bar, so either he purchased something for another girl or grabbed the box from his mother/sister/whoever.
Maybe it's a promise?
What a cheap ass.

I wonder where the actual ring went?, maybe it's a set up for a real surprise :P
Well he had to have gotten the box for buying something from Kay, so maybe the ring will come out later and he just wanted to see your reaction and if you were excited or not :)
