Eyeslick tells us more.
Yes you're correct! But let me Somme a little light on the subject(warning my reply includes religion so if you're just going to hate....just don't read this!) Where I live there are two big universities that are well known and both are some of the top ranking schools in the United states. That's why my family has been going there for a long time, and the reason why I was hoping to be able to attend said school (plus their soccer team was interested in me). This school is very difficult to get into, and well not to toot my own horn, I easily had the after school activities and grades to get into said school. After praying about why I wasn't accepted I received the distinct impression that I need to go to the other school because I am needed there for some reason....so well I guess I'll see what that means some day. Luckily I also applied to this second school because out of the two this one has a better medical school, which applies more towards my major of choice. I also have scholarships at this second school so that's a bonus. So in the end I guess everything ends a lot better then expected.

Well atleast you have more options.

Good luck! Hopefully soon you'll find out what that "reason" is. I believe anything is possible in an endless universe. Don't let anyone talk you down!
You could just go to community college for one year and reapply to the college you actually want to go to next year.
See, there is always a reason some things happen. You were meant to go to the other school to further you life's path. Don't let anti-religion commenters upset you if there are any. I'm not religious but I do believe that there are things the happen for a reason. Good luck with everything, OP!
Lol apparently you didn't have the grades and activities to get in...
I wasn't excepted into my dream college. It was the same one my dad went to. I wanted to go there since I was little. Now I love the college I chose and I wouldn't ever think of going somewhere else. It's funny how things end up. Keep your head up! Everything happens for a reason!
so it was either university of Utah or byu. you prayed and are going to uou. omg, I didn't even check your profile until after I posted the first sentance. I am good!!
Utah Utes!!!! :P
I'm at the UofU, go UTES! BYU is full of snooty people anyway, and OP's post proves it. Welcome to the light my friend.
60/61- touché my friend. Stayed up a little too late last night it seems. I'll mark that in my ever growing "slip up" book and hope it doesn't happen again anytime soon.
I'm confused, why is everybody down voting #47? I think he's trying to be rude about OP being religious. I just don't understand how.
Basically you got rejected and now you're saying that it is because the other school "needed you"
I, too, would like to know what 47 meant
Istikhara?
I agree with 73...sounds like OP made up some lame excuse about how they were meant to go to the other school. But it was only meant to be if they didn't get accepted to the first school. If they have gotten accepted, I'm sure OP woulda thought that was meant to be.
God works in mysterious ways! I met the love of my love at a college I hadn't originally wanted to go to; now I couldn't imagine being anywhere else.
41: I hope you find the reason you're meant to go there! Good luck! :D
I think there's a reason that you're going to the other university too - it'll all work out! I didn't get into my first choice, but I'm still studying hard and loving it, and I'm still close with people I acquainted myself with at the other university (they're in the same city). Plus, it sounds like you'll get more from the other university, it sounds better to me :) good luck!
to # 72: Seventh Day Adventist? Not sure why that's an insult ...
MSU and U of M I presume?
What do they stand for.. "s," "d" and "a"?
It sounds like you wanted to go to BYU and got into the University of Utah. Congratulations on getting into the U, it's a great school.
sounds like it's the college of your family's dreams. there are plenty of reputable universities out there, don't think you have to go there just because everyone else did.
Agreed. Your education is what really matters. Not the place you obtain it. I hope this had more to do with you wanting to go there than just everyone else did and you followed along. it's YOUR future. Not your family's.
No. OP clearly said the college of THEIR dreams. Why are there so many commenters thinking they know more about the poster than they themselves do. Stop trying to play internet detective.
op didn't say that at all...
Actually, the OP did say it was the college of his dreams. But it is possible that he only thinks that because of family influences. The way the FML is phrased makes it sound like the sucky part of this is the fact that a lot of family went to the school and he didn't get in, not that it was his dream school and he didn't get in.
Sorry OP but maybe do a year at community college and have time to work on everything you may have been lacking. Then transfer the year after. Best of luck!
Be yourself op! You don't have to be like the rest of your family, and maybe you should tell them you don't want to go there if you want to save embarrassment.
OP shouldn't feel embarrassed I was lucky to get into the college I wanted, but it was the only one I was accepted to and I applied to many others. There is nothing wrong with getting rejected it's happened to everyone.
If this is the college of your dreams, then just work hard at a community college and transfer
Dude that's horrible but you can always go anywhere your first year and transfer in your second
