Today, I was reprimanded at work for having a low friendliness rating as a cashier. For two months, out of 1500 transactions, only 3 people filled out the survey. I almost got fired because 1 out of 3 people was mad about a coupon. FML

Hiya, OP here! I'm honestly surprised this was posted, but hopefully I can make a few things clear! I work at a Super Target, and honestly, the thing most irritating to me is that they didn't immediately notice how low my amount of transactions are. a normal week of cashiering at the front lanes is about 900-1300 transactions. Having 1500 for two months is abnormally low, especially for a full time cashier like me. It should've been taken into account that I'm not often at the lanes when they told me my score, but it is what it is. For those telling me to have friends fill out a survey, I like how you think but unfortunately the surveys are printed on receipts and it is sporadic. I never know which receipt will get one until it prints, and I always inform guests when they get one and ask that if they have time to go ahead and tell us how we're doing. Lastly, my manager was super understanding. She knew I was hardly ever doing cashiering on a normal lane, and she was telling me about my personal score because we had an important guy from Corporate coming in and we had to know, my score just caught the other team leads off guard and they were initially upset at how low it was, until they learned why. I believe my score is actually the lowest of all cashiers here. So in short, it was all a misunderstanding because of the amount of times I actually cashier on the checkout lanes. Thank you for all the awesome and hilarious comments! Hopefully my novella helped clear some things up! 8)

Remember the wise words from Porky Pig in times like this "Stats (are all that matters) folks!

Wait a minute... Your boss is wrong. Only 33.3% complained. The other 66.7% of all respondents were satisfied. How is that a low friendliness rating? Your boss is an asshole. FYL

It's got nothing to do with the surveys. They just don't want to give you a raise. Welcome to corporate America

oh wow, I never fill those out either.will start with all good reviews to help workers out

Retail sucks. I have had to do it and it made me have a strong hatred for people in general. They are nasty towards employees because its a power trip, since they know you are forbidden to retaliate. They would never dare say that crap to you outside of your workplace.

Yiiikes sorry to hear that, OP! And 50 hours a week you gave to them, that truly sucks. If it makes you feel any better, I will start filling out those customer surveys (and hopefully others will as well...never knew how much weight they had). Wanted to make a joke but won't because they really make a difference! Feeling bad now that I've gotten great service in places and not bothered to fill out the forms. Who knew one bad review would weigh so heavily :( Gonna have to add, because I admit I made a comment earlier that maybe you didn't work hard enough, that hopefully this will be a door closed and a window opened to a better opportunity you never would've had otherwise! Good luck, OP!! :)

Wrong FML I think, you want the internship one

Lol whoops ur right 44. And I wrote that diatribe for nothing. FML. I did mean what I said though OP FYL. Sorry one bad review can lose you your whole job.

Don't you just love working retail..... (Sarcasm)

The exact same thing happened to me, only I was fired because a handful of people were mad about something I can't control. It really sucks because only the people who are mad are going to take the survey.

I once had a customer threaten me because they (as in the customer), did not correctly read the label saying that the items they were buying were not on multibuy, but the other items on the shelf were. (By label, this thing was an A3 sized piece of board with what must have been at least font sized 30 writing in it...) I also once had a customer come up to me and call me fat. I'm 6ft 2 and weigh about 14 stone roughly. Not to mention that the sheer stupidity of some customers is unreal. I once had a customer come up to my checkout (one of the big ones with the belts) and ask if "this is where you come to pay". Retail.

Haha, the stupidity really is shocking! I once had someone try to return an item purchased from Amazon to us. She was adamant we should take it because she "just wanted the tool attachment." Customers just suck sometimes, I'm sorry you had to put up with such rude people.

Get in good with the collectors. When a survey pops up tell them if they win they could buy a lot of hot wheels, macfarlens, marvel legends or dc universe ( or whatever they collect). Works for me.

Does your boss have a round head, and a weird haircut covering his forehead, speaks with a heavy German accent and had a toothbrush mustache?
