Today, I was reprimanded at work for having a low friendliness rating as a cashier. For two months, out of 1500 transactions, only 3 people filled out the survey. I almost got fired because 1 out of 3 people was mad about a coupon. FML

Hiya, OP here! I'm honestly surprised this was posted, but hopefully I can make a few things clear! I work at a Super Target, and honestly, the thing most irritating to me is that they didn't immediately notice how low my amount of transactions are. a normal week of cashiering at the front lanes is about 900-1300 transactions. Having 1500 for two months is abnormally low, especially for a full time cashier like me. It should've been taken into account that I'm not often at the lanes when they told me my score, but it is what it is. For those telling me to have friends fill out a survey, I like how you think but unfortunately the surveys are printed on receipts and it is sporadic. I never know which receipt will get one until it prints, and I always inform guests when they get one and ask that if they have time to go ahead and tell us how we're doing. Lastly, my manager was super understanding. She knew I was hardly ever doing cashiering on a normal lane, and she was telling me about my personal score because we had an important guy from Corporate coming in and we had to know, my score just caught the other team leads off guard and they were initially upset at how low it was, until they learned why. I believe my score is actually the lowest of all cashiers here. So in short, it was all a misunderstanding because of the amount of times I actually cashier on the checkout lanes. Thank you for all the awesome and hilarious comments! Hopefully my novella helped clear some things up! 8)

I have worked as a cashier in a retail store for almost a year now and all I can say is hang in there. I have gotten several bad reviews for similar reasons. All I can say is hang in there OP.

One thing I've learned is that unless the employee truly does something worthy of being fired, and you can't or won't give them the highest score in every category, then ignore customer satisfaction surveys. Only the highest score matters. If any other score is chosen that's grounds for terminating someone's job. It has nothing to do with collecting feedback and everything to do with culling the herd.

It's ok I feel your pain I once had a lady scream at me and threaten to complain to my manager because I didn't tell her and her daughter that we have a family change room... ???

Isn't it ok for the mother to come in the? Ok its not ok for a women or man to go with the opposite sex but idk exactly

I worked in a lawn and garden center during the summer off from college, the store was SERIOUSLY understaffed and one day I was alone in my department. Management wouldn't send anyone to help me out even though I'm a girl who is 5 ft tall and couldn't lift over 15 pounds at the time due to health issues. A lady wanted 6 bags of rocks which each weigh about 30 pounds. I told her I couldn't help her not only because I wasn't allowed to leave the register area unattended but because of my health issues. I even called management to to have them send someone to help which they once again refused. So the lady went to the store manager and complained demanding I be fired for being lazy and a rude b****. I almost got fired because I couldn't get the management to do rheir jobs to assist. So I completely feel your pain.

Sounds like Wal-Mart. The same type of stuff happened to me there over and over. They also wanted me to still show up to work pin my wedding day because they scheduled me to work even though i put in a request for the day off two months in advance. No special day or holiday either.

I feel ya there, op! I'm a cashier as well and it's amazing how down right rude and angry people will get over the simplest little thing and even the smallest coupon amounts too. I swear, forgetting to ring in that god damned thirty five cent coupon makes you as bad as Hitler in their opinions! retail sucks giant donkey balls. Fyl and mine!

This kind of thing happens to me to. We randomly email surveys to customers and anything less than a 8/10 is a failing "grade". So I could get 10 10s and the one random 5 and that will lower my average. It takes a lot of perfect scores to undo one bad score.
