Hey guys! OP here! It stunk not going on vacation. From the beginning, we ALL thought we had to take the final. In the syllabus it said it was worth 30% of our grade. He's a new professor and this is a psychology class. I guess some type of experiment??? I was so mad, but I still have a 3.8 GPA to prove for it!!!

If your pulling down A's, I'm sure the job offers you'll get later in life will allow for many trips to the Bahamas.
Teacher played it right. Education and grades are their own reward. Getting off an exam is a bonus not an entitlement. But yeah FYL, op..
At least you have an A!!
No offense to your teacher but she needs to learn to give her students a heads up on these types of things. I would have been so pissed.
Well if it was a trip with your friends you can still try to meet up with them there
at least you don't have to take the final.
Don't most teachers tell students ahead of time about exemptions and all that, I know at my school they tell you the week before what exams you have to take!
I guess a psychology experiment for him? It was a psych class. You should have seen our faces!!!
If it works at your school anything like it did at mine, you would have had to show up for finals anyway, you just wouldn't have to take them. It seems pointless, but many schools have to meet a daily quota for attendance, including the day of finals. At my school, we were required to show up for half of the day on the day of finals, and as long as we had a certain percentage in the rest of our classes, we could go home after lunch.

My mom always said good grades are their own reward. But then again, she has never been to the Bahamas.
Ouch op. Atleast you know you're smart enough! I think some people would give up a trip to get an A.
