By no that does not help - 20/08/2013 13:41 - United States - Austin

Today, I went to see a therapist for help with my severe fear of spiders. The therapist held a big spider in a box inches away from my face. I ran to the back of the room and asked him why. He responded with, "Aren't therapists supposed to help you face your fears?" I'm paying $150 an hour. FML

Isn't this a valid technique? Flooding or something?

Dead therapist walking.........................

Therapists are a sick joke. It's an instinct, so deal with it.

Is no one else concerned about the fact this therapist just has a spider in a box on hand?

The only thing you have to fear is fear itself.

That's actually how therapists do it sometimes... it's called Flooding. It's legit.

Find a REAL therapist to help you overcome your fear! That's quackery!

That is a valid technique it actually ends with the spider out of the box and on you but it slowly goes there. Therapist ARE supposed to help you face your fears but usually they start with pictures

You had me at "I ran to the back of the room and asked why".
