Today, I went to spend my last $50 on gas, since I get paid in 5 days. I paid for the gas and stepped into the restroom briefly. I came out, only to discover that the attendant had put the gas on the wrong pump, and someone had used it for themselves. My tank is empty. FML

This situation got a lot more difficult before it got better. For starters, in hindsight I know I should've started pumping my gas first before going to the bathroom but I've done this plenty of times before and never had this problem (and I really had to go lol). As a side note, I live in Colorado and I have never seen a full service gas station anywhere in my state. And for the couple people calling me stupid about my "lack of a budget", I bought my dad a nice Father's Day gift and so after paying all my bills I was left with basically nothing. The attendant refused to admit that he had put it on the wrong pump so I called the company (Shell for those wondering) and they had the store GM come out to avoid getting the police involved. It took him an hour to show up and the attendant was being an ass the whole time. Cameras showed the GM that the attendant made the mistake (even though he was still trying to deny it). Finally after about 2 hours the GM filled my tank up and gave me a gas card for the 50 as an apology. And he ended up firing the attendant for his lack of professionalism. Sorry for the long reply everyone but thanks for the good wishes and taking the time to share your input! Definitely going to pump my gas first next time.

Why didn't you pump your gas before using the restroom? Even if they put it on the right pump, someone could have walked up and taken the gas.

What are you on about? The way I understood it, the OP prepaid for his gas inside the station and the attendant inside applied the payment to the wrong pump, which someone else drove up and used. How was the OP lazy??

That was not a full serve station. In those, the attendant comes out to the car so those mistakes don't happen. This was a station where you pay before you pump. OP should have checked and started pumping before going to the bathroom.

Honestly if they didn't offer you a full tank for the mix up I would take my future business to another gas station... Provided there's more than one where you live.

That's pretty crappy OP. I understand having to spend my last dollar on gas too. And this has happened to me before (the attendant putting the gas on the wrong pump) but I caught it before anyone else could help themselves to free gas and the guy was able to fix it. I hope you didn't leave until they rectified THEIR mistake!! And hopefully whoever took your gas was someone who really needed it!

That's why they have those signs that say "do not leave your vehicle unattended while refueling". Someone probably ran up and stole your gas while you were in the bathroom. Also, it's called a budget. It's a tool that people use to make sure they don't run out of money 5 days before they get their next paycheck. YDI

I agree that it was dumb to go to the bathroom BEFORE refueling the car. But you don't know that he didn't have a budget. Maybe he had some financial emergencies come up and that's why he doesn't have any money left. Or maybe, like so many of us, he has a crap job and his salary can only stretch so far. At least he was smart enough to plan to use his last $50 on gas so that if nothing else he could at least get to work.

#20 is an assumptive ass. budgeting may not have **** all to do with the fact that OP was low on cash, we wernt told whether the rest of their money was spent on random stuff. if your broke/poor then you usually dont have extra money after essential bills, so saying ydi because someone doesnt make alot of money currently (or had an emergency) is a dick thing to do.

If he ****** up because you gave him the wrong pump number, then you're shit out of luck. If, on the other hand, you gave the correct number but the attendant ballsed up, you're entitled to a refund. Make of this what you will.
