Today, just three days into a much-needed vacation, my 5-year-old daughter has come down with chickenpox. FML

There is a vaccine for the chickenpox now a days. Both my children had it done while they were still babies. Why wouldn't you have it done to your own child? Chickenpox are horrible to go through. I still have scars from when I had them and didn't want my kids to go through that pain. Ugh! Your poor child.

I had them when I was 4. But I remember they didn't itch too bad, I was more embarrassed by my appearance because I was covered in them. But my brother also got it and I remembered he cried alot cause they itched like crazy on him.

Well, though its rare, it's still possible to catch chickenpox even if they took the vaccine.

@20: Even with vaccination it is still possible to catch chicken pox. My son has been fully vaccinated for chicken pox and yet he managed to have it still. Twice.

It's also possible to have the chickenpox twice without being vaccinated. But much more likely that the person won't have it at all if they get the vaccine. Isn't that much better than having those silly pox parties and making sure your kids are miserable? Why not try to ensure that they won't ever get it?

Most people go through their lives getting chicken pox once, but a percentage can get them more than once, or not at all. It is a low percentage, but still possible.
