Today, my best friend and I both applied for the same job. I was applying because my family is REALLY tight on cash, and I need the money. He applied because I told him about the job and we thought it would be fun working together. He was hired on the spot. I was denied the job. FML

Sorry, let me clarify. There was a business opening up in our area, so there were many openings up for the jobs. We wanted to both get jobs there. They did group interviews then passed the ones they liked onto the next one. We were in the same group interview and he made it past. I wouldn't be stupid enough to tell him about a single job that was available, but I was stupid enough to think we would both be hired :P but I went job hunting afterwards and one of the places is interested and it's a better overall job so it's not an FML anymore

If there is ONE open job, it's pretty stupid to think you can both have it...

They could smell your stink of desperation and thought you might end up stealing from them. Your friend seemed cool, and therefore, trustworthy. Desperation is not a good vibe to put out when looking for a job, or a date, for that matter.

Well maybe they wouldn't have hired you anyway. But if it was only one open spot, then YDI.

I'm sorry but never tell a friend about a sweet job going, number one that's just asking for it and number two you'll never both get it unless you know the manager. or unless one if you starts there and then recommends the other. you're an idiot.

They are going to hire whoever is more competent. They don't have to compensate for your problems.

I know this sounds selfish and ruthless, but, in this state of economy, advertising job openings to your friends isn't very wise.

Since it's unlikely he "took your spot", don't blame your friend for being unable to get the job on your own strengths.

That sucks I know how you feel about your fam being tight on cash, but just be happy for your friend. =) KEEP JOB HUNTING LOL!

Well, not everyone is cut out to be a gay pornstar. On the bright side, the two of you can still "work together" on your own time.
