the combination of those pets is just lethal, if you ever want to buy new ones, choose wisely: a cat OR a hamster. Not both.

I think it's a shame that you had the hamster running around loose and the cat running around loose at the same time. I have a gerbil and three cats. The gerbil is very tame and likes to run around loose. I let him because he comes to me when I call him BUT the cats are NEVER loose at the same time, I usually only let him run around when the cats are sleeping in the bedroom. I just shut the door to the bedroom while they nap and let him have his fun in the living room.
