Call the credit card company asap and tell them that the check will not be in the bank, that the check was destroyed. Then go to the issuer of the check, bring the pieces of the check and they should reissue, if they don't want to, tell them to take out the STOP PAYMENT fee out of the $2000.00 and go from there. Really when they see the check, they should just rewrite it, Good luck. If the credit card company is not willing to work with you, contact your bank to see if they can prevent the payment from coming through.
