Today, my family informed me that we were going on a 10 hour road trip to my cousin's wedding. They only decided to tell me 45 minutes before we left for said road trip. FML

How did you not know this was happening?

Not everyone is close to their extended family.

Yes, but you should know when the wedding is if you've been invited to it.

No, not always. Which has been made fairly clear by this FML. If you have a large family, it's easy to miss out on news because it was assumed someone told you. In my family, funeral notifications are usually how we find out an elderly relative had been ill.

Even though it's last minute.... What are you complaining about a free trip and spending time with your family! Grab the essentials and go!

Yeah, because nobody likes to plan their life, and everyone loves spontaneously being ordered to spend 20 hours in a car.

I have the exact same problem. Why do they not just tell us when something is going to happen?

Surprise weddings, aren't they fun? Once, my family got 12hrs notice that a cousin was getting married. Not some distant cousin either, she was a year younger than me and we had practically raised her through childhood.

Wow I love road trips but would hate a short period of time to prepare for one

Is your last name Munch by any chance? Maybe related to someone who's last name is Munch?

they could have told u 45mins before reaching there. thank to them.

Accidentally hit ydi. Seriously do people not prepare and tell everyone involved

If someone dropped a wedding on me that close, Inwoukdnt be going unless I really liked the person. But if you really liked a person, you'd probably know it was coming sooner unless it is an elopement/shotgun wedding. In which case, I wouldn't go because I wouldn't want to be caught in the drama.

I'm confused, did you know about the wedding and just thought you were flying or??¿ I find it hard to believe you didn't know your cousin was getting married
