lentmarz tells us more.
The story behind this is that when I proposed to my ex, and she said no, I was devastated. I hadn't really gotten over her, but my family set me up and I went out with her to humor them. We had a nice night and had gone out several times since. As for the ring, the materials were worth about $4000 and I spent over 2 weeks smelting and hand designing it. I spent so much time on it, that it didn't feel right to sell it. Also, I have made the decision never to see her again. So yes, I ran.

I got a lock box at the bank for $40 a year...try it next time assuming you can get out of this one.
for the ring or the girlfriend?
There are two types of people...
Well, good luck explaining that one to her.
How fit are you OP? I see you needing to do a lot of running sometime in the next few days.
Haha wow. Well... at least she didn't think you were a creep for proposing after just 3 weeks AND say no AND leave you... :P
I'm not sure if this is better
Next on investigation discovery. She found the ring meant for his ex. When she found out he wasn't going to marry her after three weeks, it lead to murder.
Where was the ring and why was it locatable. Grow some OP and explain that it was for previous relationship and that maybe you are not right for her as still grieving for Ex. Or better still tell her you are planning to ask your ex to marry you after the fling with her is over
The ring was probably in a drawer in his bedroom or somewhere in his closet. Not an unreasonable place as I'm sure he wasn't expecting her to find it and assume she'd think it was for her; he's only been dating her for 3 weeks after all.
I was thinking along the lines who goes through drawers etc 3 weeks into a relationship. Scary
I'm concerned about how she came to that conclusion. I mean you didn't present it to her.
But would you find it, put it on and act like he already proposed? Or would you find it, then try and put it back like you never found it and wait for a proposal? Or even find it and ask him what it's for? I think it's a bit weird to just assume it's not only for you, but act like he's already proposed, no matter how long you've been dating, but especially after only 3 weeks!
To be fair, I think #25 was commenting in jest, #37. I hope so anyway!
Ahh, my bad then. Although I understand a girl seeing a ring in their boyfriends house and thinking the boyfriend is going to propose to them, as long as it's a thought they keep to themselves.
Agreed - where's the fun in ruining the "surprise"?!
Maybe they were in the room together, she found it, he went something like "Err, well...", thinking how to word it, and she filled in the gap with assuming it was a proposal. Still crazy after 3 weeks, but may explain it to some extent.
Have commitment OP ...
If you don't, someone else will, and it won't be pretty.
said yes after three weeks, you must be a freak in the bed!
