Today, my husband told me that he's letting his mother move in with us. He told her it was alright without even consulting me first. I hate my mother-in-law so much that I'm contemplating divorce rather than living with her. FML

Today, I can no longer tolerate my mother-in-law. She's not a bad person, but anytime she opens her mouth it is only to criticize, chastise, scold, or blame me. My husband is too terrified of her to ask her to leave our home. FML

Today, my mother-in-law yelled from across the house for me to come quickly. She sounded frantic, so I rushed and asked what was wrong. She said, "Nothing." and that she just wanted to remind me that she hates my guts. She'll be living here with me and my wife for the next two months. FML

Today, my husband refused to let my mother move in with us. He said he’d rather buy her another house than let her move in, then he actually threatened divorce before he’d let her move in. He’s never been this stubborn before about anything. I don’t get it. FML

Today, I found out that my unemployed and very needy mother-in-law will be moving in with us soon. And during my conversation on the phone with her, she expects us to buy a house and my wife and I can "live with her." My wife agrees with all of this. FML

Today, my mother-in-maw informed us that she sold her house and is moving in with us so we'll "take care" of her in old age. She's in perfect health. We've only been married for 4 months. My wife can't stand her for more than 2 weeks at a time, let alone living with us. FML

Today, my boyfriend's mother told me she had fantasies about throwing him out a window when he was a baby because she was so depressed and couldn't handle the stress. The worst part is he wants to get married. She'd be my mother-in-law. FML

Today, my mother-in-law told my fiancé that I had to leave and wasn’t allowed to live there anymore. I own the house. She’s mad because I locked the door so she couldn't walk in anytime she wanted. FML

Today, my husband wants a divorce and will be moving out as soon as possible because he can’t stand my mother anymore. He's tired of pushing me to stand up to her, even once, so he's done and is leaving. I’m upset he’s leaving, but I’m equally as upset he’s leaving me alone with my mother. FML

You need to tell your husband that this is NOT ok. If you express to him the burning hatred you have for his mother perhaps he will make the right decision for his marriage.

Annnnd this is why we moved as far away as we could could from our families in our newly married stage. Having them here for a week was too rough. Since u say u r only contemplating it, please discuss this with ur husband. If he doesnt know u hare her, yall have some pretty bad communication skills. Fml

If that's part of your culture (I know some of my friends are raised in the thought that you take in his parents when they can't take care of themselves... its actually an honor) then you should have known BUT I voted FYL because it doesn't sound like thats the case

I can see that. If mine did the same and went through with it I would be gone. .. kinda it's my house him and his mum would be gone. don't get me wrong I love my husband but not his evil mother.

This is so weird to me.. I love my mother in law!! This makes me think that it might not be the mother who's so bad if you're willing to leave the love of your life because of her.
