Today, my mom found a pack of cigarettes in my pocket. She hates smoking, so she tore every single cigarette to pieces, then emptied a bag of kitty litter on them. On my bed. FML

So, hoover your damn bed and stop smoking.

Marijuana causes just as many respiratory problems. The whole, "Pot is better for you than cigarrettes," is an old wives tale. The only reason the stats are lower is because some people ingest it without smoking it. Fact is, it's still a mind altering substance that can cause problems. It does have some good medical applications, but that's of course for the people who aren't just abusing it. Smoking anything is bad for you. Period. That's why medical marijuana dispensaries offer a lot of edible alternatives.

I think it's time to leave a few dead fish in her car. Under the drivers seat or in the back of the glovebox is a good place to start.

@70, long term smoking of pot actually helps stimulate the brain cells, abuse of it overstimulates the brain cells killing them off, so yeah there are long term effects of pot, but in the right doses they are desirable.

i cant stand how many ppl condone the laws against smoking, its restricting ppls freedoms. i should be free to smoke where i want when i want, and others are free to say to stop that, but only in a private place do i have to listen, in a public place, i should do whatever i want. im afraid obesity is gonna start to be outlawed within my lifetime, its all the liberal mindset catering to the special interest groups, not the general population

You only get your freedoms as long as they dont infringe on other people's freedoms. As someone said earlier, there's no such thing as second-hand fat. There IS second-hand smoke that can give someone lung cancer that could take years off their life. I hope this is just a sad trolling attempt.

I am by no means "liberal", however, YOU are the one infringing upon MY RIGHT when you smoke. I get your UNWANTED second hand smoke that causes me to cough and suffer all because "you should be free to do what you want, when you want, i.e., kill other people around you because you're chooosing to kill yourself." Second-hand smoke has been proven to cause lung cancer, and other effects. But you are right, you are free to kill yourself (smoke) if you would like but do it on your own time in YOUR own private space. Why should we non-smokers suffer because of your stupidity? You're an idiot #87

you can't get up in arms about it. it's a public safety thing. I don't smoke but if you smoke around me you are causing harm to the person who wishes to avoid it. speed limits are much the same. I want to drive 115 mph on the freeway but laws tell me I can't. are they restricting my freedoms or are they protecting other people? beyond that, from an ethics standpoint, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one. ethically it is YOUR responsibility not to smoke in places where non-smokers congregate. there are safe havens for smokers. many places such as bars and the like allow for smoking, but Ruby Tuesdays or the metro station are places where many children and non-smokers gather so smoking there needs to not be permissible. I'm all for someone smoking if they so choose, but consider the harm you could be doing to others before you raise the flags of war over your restrictions

YDI for knowing your mother hated it, doing it anyway while living under HER roof with HER rules, and for bringing them into the house.

YTDI, for: 1. Hiding cigarettes from your mother - really? You really thought you could get away with it? 2. Smoking cigarettes - don't you know how bad that is for you? 3. Buying cigarettes - you are WASTING money. 4. Being just plain stupid. 5. Your mother did that because she cares about you, if you cared about her, you would be respectful enough to at least not bring cigarettes in her house.

He may be wasting money himself, but he's at least stimulating the economy? :D

the comments on fml are all over the place!

To all the people saying 'YDI for smoking in the first place': 1. no where in the paragraph does it say she is underage 2. no where does it say she was trying to hide them 3. if someone wants to ingest a harmful chemical in the privacy of their own home it is none of your business. FYL OP. Your mother should be able to talk to you about these things instead of destroying your property and leaving cat poop on your bed, What an immature reaction. And, for the record, I absolutely loath cigarettes.

yeah it doesnt say she is underaged buuut it does say my mom therefore she is under age.

I still live with my parents, and I'm 19. I'm goin to college and saving money.

And people say my mom, anyways. What do you call your parents?

normally I would be on your side but in this case it's moms house, mom's rules. even if op doesn't live at home the cigs should have at least been left in the car to avoid the conflict. the fact that the kitty litter on the bed was an FML moment makes me think op does live at home and thus shouldn't have had the cigarettes to begin with. it reminds me of the adage "don't bite the hand that feeds you"

YDI for smoking in the first place. I don't care how old you are or who you are. There is not ONE reason in this world to smoke. Not one. You smoking not only affects you, it affects me and everyone else around you....but thanks for your unwanted second-hand smoke asswhole .
